THE most common question I get is "what's YOUR favorite place?" I guess it all depends what you're looking for.

If I was vacationing on Maui with a couple of kids and a nice sized budget, I'd probably recommend Kanai A Nalu. It's right on the beach, the units are large with separate bedrooms for the kids. It's definately "kid friendly". More likely though, you're on a tight budget with a couple of kids! In such cases you'll find a great value at Hono Kai. These are one-bedroom garden view units with a sleeper sofa for the kids, but still easily accessible to the beach and the staff is really friendly!

Some people are looking for that awesome view, and don't mind walking a couple of minutes to a sandy beach. If that's the case, consider Ma'alaea Banyans. This is a great place for couples. These are oceanfront one-bedroom units. They've got a really nice hot tub and a washer/dryer in each unit.

Other good choices are the Milowai, which is close to the harbor and restaurants, and Ma'alaea Yacht Marina, which is also close to harbor activities and has access to a small harborfront beach.

Virtually any oceanfront unit will grant you with tremendous views!

If you're interested in PURCHASING a unit you've got a lot of choices too. My personal favorites as an investment -- you know, to put it into the rental pools -- are Milowai, Island Sands, Kanai A Nalu, Ma'alaea Kai and Lauloa. These all have excellent rental histories. If you’re looking for something with easy harbor access & great oceanfront views then Ma’alaea Yacht Marina is an excellent choice. If you're looking for something "affordable" and don't require the amenities of a resort, then I'd recommend the Ma’alaea Mermaid.
